Yesterday we took an interesting couple of detours on our way to Midlothian, Virginia. First we stopped in Smithfield, which is known for it’s hams and bacon. The downtown area is so clean and charming. There were shops and restaurants along the Pagan River and it was hard to narrow my photos down to a few:
Then we took the Jamestown and Scotland ferry aptly named the Pocohantas across the James River. It was a beautiful spring day with blue skies and the temperature was around 70 degrees.
We then drove along the scenic Route 5 and passed all of the signs for plantation homes as we were on our way to downtown Richmond. The first stop was the historic train station with its beautiful architecture. I-95 is right next to the upper level of the station and is visible in a few corners of these photos.
