Autumn IS really here!

Autumn

Just because the calendar said so doesn’t mean it really is here in my part of the world. The temperature was nice yesterday. I decided to just slip my shoes into my comfy shoes.  No, these are not Sketchers but they are cute just the same.  We were walking out to take photos of Ray’s truck because we were putting it on Craigslist.  And then I saw this.Autumn is really here!

This shot was taken with my nifty fifty and I’m using it for my weekly fifty challenge to myself.  But this wasn’t an artistic shot and I’m using this why?  Because it makes me happy!

Have a great week friends!

Happy Four Score and Three

Yesterday Ray and I went to Jetersville to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday.  He received his box of Cee’s Chocolates on Friday.  His dad liked them when they lived in California so Ray has given him these beautiful and delicious chocolates a few times now.

It was a great visit with lots of reminiscing.  My one regret I didn’t capture the cherry pie with candles moment but these photos document a great birthday.  83 Years!

Mama J and Big Daddy Cliff are great sports with my passion for photography. Jeanette used to be into it too.  A few shots aren’t perfect but they have great emotion. I tried to fix Mama J’s glare from her glasses but I’m not that good at editing.

Autumn Leaves

001

As Ray and I went out for breakfast this morning, I grabbed my Canon and switched the lens to my Nifty-Fifty after reading this post.  I sometimes struggle for photo inspiration and the author mentioned challenging himself weekly by shooting with his 50mm lens. He called it a Weekly Fifty.

We drove downtown to one of our favorite places and I saw this photo op as I got out of the car.  The letter S could be for Suffolk or sewer but I knew it was for Sherri and the leaves just made my day.  Ray shook his head when I took it but really it’s pretty!

Autumn is officially beginning on Tuesday, September 23rd.  It’s my favorite season because…Hello – COLOR!  The trees here in Virginia become glowing flames of reds and oranges.  Sometimes the leaves swirl across the highway as we drive and there is no way I can have the camera ready but I love those moments of serendipity.

I also love the change in temperatures because I can start wearing my collection of colorful socks and sweaters.  I can bake delightful pumpkin treats and even start looking forward to making soups and chili.  I don’t enjoy cooking in the summer months but oh glorious Fall means delicious home cooked meals again.

Yes, in case you haven’t realized it yet, I LOVE AUTUMN.

Bicycles of Tangier Island

These beauties don’t need captions.  I’m hard pressed to say which one is my favorite although the purple one above seems obvious.  These bikes were ridden by the locals (I believe) and it’s disconcerting how they are naturally placed all about the island in perfect photographic vignettes.

I have this song in my head – Queen of course!  Not as tranquil as the photos…

So which bicycle is screaming your name?

Feline Friday (sorry it’s late)

I promised more of Bud last week but failed to deliver.  This week I had too.  I mean I have little Max and he’s adorable but I still LOVE Bud!

002

Poor Bud never realized how much his life would change with the addition of a little fur brother.  He’s not as playful as he used to be.  I mean he tries to chase the laser light when Ray shines it but Max jumps in and takes over!

007

I used to laugh at Ray giving the cats human emotions but now I see it too.  Bud is obviously jealous of Max.  Max takes over all of the toys but sometimes Bud will attack him as he plays with something Bud thinks of as his.  Bud will start eating and Max will shove his head into his space thereby shoving Bud’s head out of the bowl.

006

Bud doesn’t give me his belly to rub much anymore and that is very disappointing to me. He looks at me like he is still ticked I brought that young’in home.  Ray said it best the other day – Bud is getting back everything he ever did to Spooky.

Our memories of Tangier

This trip to Tangier was a photographer’s dream but this scrapbooker also wanted our memories captured.  I will enjoy some of these scenic shots (that I’ve posted previously) by enlarging and hanging on our walls but I had to capture these moments in time with my beloved Ray too.  These photos will make us laugh and reminisce as we look at our yearly Project Life digital scrapbooks.

Eating crab bites – I say they should be called crab balls – he ate 5 of them. Makes me think of Chevy Chase in Funny Farm eating the mountain oysters!
